Traditional Dim Sum: Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow)

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup of chopped bamboo shoots
  • 1/4 cup of chopped water chestnuts
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Wonton wrappers
  • Cornstarch for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Finely chop the shrimp and mix with bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place a spoonful of the shrimp mixture onto a wonton wrapper.
  3. Brush the edges of the wrapper with water, fold over, and pinch to seal.
  4. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  5. Steam the dumplings for about 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Serve hot with soy sauce or chili oil for dipping.
