Seolleongtang: Hearty Beef Bone Soup Recipe

Seolleongtang is a classic Korean soup made from simmering beef bones for hours to create a rich and flavorful broth. This hearty soup is perfect for cold winter days or when you need a comforting bowl of warmth. Follow this easy recipe to make your own Seolleongtang at home!

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 lbs beef bones (such as oxtail or beef marrow bones)
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 daikon radish, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 6-8 cloves of garlic, smashed
  • 2-3 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, add the beef bones and enough water to cover the bones. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for at least 4 hours, skimming off any impurities that rise to the surface.
  2. Add the onion, daikon radish, garlic, and green onions to the pot. Continue to simmer for another 2-3 hours, until the broth is rich and flavorful.
  3. Remove the bones and vegetables from the pot and strain the broth through a fine mesh sieve. Discard the solids.
  4. Season the broth with salt, to taste.
