Are you looking for a delicious and healthy vegan meal that will tantalize your taste buds? Look no further than marinated tofu steaks! These crispy Korean-inspired tofu steaks are packed with flavor and are sure to satisfy even the most discerning palate.

Ingredients:

  • 1 block of firm tofu, pressed and drained
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Begin by pressing the tofu to remove excess water. This will help the tofu absorb more of the marinade.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, maple syrup, and red pepper flakes to make the marinade.
  3. Cut the tofu into steaks and place them in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the tofu, making sure each steak is well-coated. Let the tofu marinate for at least 30 minutes, turning occasionally.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dredge each tofu steak in cornstarch, shaking off any excess, and place them in the skillet.
  5. Cook the tofu steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are crispy and golden brown.
  6. Remove the tofu steaks from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  7. Garnish the tofu steaks with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Enjoy your crispy Korean vegan delight with a side of steamed rice and stir-fried veggies for a complete and satisfying meal. These marinated tofu steaks are sure to become a staple in your plant-based recipe repertoire!
