Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 pound of ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup of chopped green onions

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together. Slowly add the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover the bowl with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and green onions. Set aside.
  4. Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and divide it into small balls. Roll each ball out into a circle and place a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal.
  5. Place the filled buns on squares of parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Steam the buns for about 15 minutes until they are cooked through.
  7. Serve the steamed pork buns hot with soy sauce or chili sauce for dipping.
