Beef Sukiyaki: A Winter Warm-Up Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (such as ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 bunch of enoki mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of dashi broth
  • 1 block of tofu, sliced

  • 2 eggs

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet or electric hot pot, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and dashi broth. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook until they start to soften.
  3. Add the beef slices and cook until they are browned.
  4. Add the enoki mushrooms and tofu slices to the skillet.
  5. In a separate pot, blanch the spinach until wilted. Drain and set aside.
  6. Crack the eggs into the skillet and stir gently until they are cooked through.
  7. Serve the beef sukiyaki hot, garnished with green onions and accompanied by a bowl of steamed rice.
